7-Day Vegetarian Challenge: Is leather vegetarian?
Welcome back.
Yes. I'm still a vegetarian.
I must say I'm pretty surprised with myself. It's been four whole days and not once have a cheated.
Vegetarianism is a very simple concept, whereby those who practice it do not consume any meat products. Very clear definition, right?
BUT NO.
The first few days when I started telling people I'm going vegetarian for a week, I find myself answering so many questions about it. Like... why are you doing this? are you trying to lose weight? is this a phase? what kind of veg are you? but you love meat. do you eat fish? is milk ok? oh so you're not like vegan right? can you still go out and drink? Is leather vegetarian?
I swear those were real questions.
And I'm not even a real veg. Imagine what a real veg goes through every single time when they meet new people.
There were times before that I acted like that when I meet a vegetarian. But that's because I didn't know and I was interested to know. Now, I do realistically emphasize with vegetarians. The concept is so simple. It's suppose to simplify your life but then at the same makes it complicated simply because it makes you become the minority.
- You have only a few choices on the menu to choose from. It's always either vegetables, mushrooms or tofu
- You spend less time choosing and more time with whatever you want to do
- You can save quite a few bucks on lunches and dinner
And even if all else fails and they don't have a veg menu. You can still tell them to customize your order with whatever the hell stuff you want. (bonus points for Thailand for allowing us to do that everywhere we go ;))
With this challenge, I am constantly discovering/realizing many new things with this experiment. For those of you who haven't tried this. I really recommend you to. Even if you were to fail at the end, it's a good at idea to challenge yourself out of your comfort zone to really learn something. Because so far I've taken so much out of this.
Can't wait to share more. Until next time bitches!

non-veg: hi, do you want to try some chicken fingers? (or any meat dish substitute)
veg: No, thanks. I'm vegetarian.
non-veg: Oh okay. Well, we have some chips. But no, wait those are bbq flavored... I'm not sure if that really veg. Do you want to try that instead?
veg: No, I'm good thanks.

Speaking of simplifying life. When you don't eat meat:
- You food choice becomes limited- You have only a few choices on the menu to choose from.
